Launch of the British Society of Criminology Midlands Regional Network: Gender, Crime and Justice
The relaunch of the British Society of Criminology (BSC) Midlands Regional Network will take place at Nottingham Trent University on the 15 October 2014. The seminar will address the theme of Gender, Crime and Justice.
The next evening seminar will be held at Derby University on the 26 November 2014. The session will examine aspects of Policing in the 21st Century. On the 4 March 2015, Loughborough University will be addressing the theme of the Crime Drop.
The BSC Midlands Regional Network will offer a platform for guest speakers to discuss their research and engage in a dialogue about: crime, criminal justice, criminalisation and social exclusion; and / or their involvement with a variety of campaigning and community groups affected by such processes. The unifying interest of the network lies in the analysis of public policy as a response to social problems and a commitment to using evidence to impact on policy.
The theme of this event is to place at the fore of public and academic debate the subject of gender and to critically reflect on the progress that has been made on issues which continue to cause concern.
To launch the event Chris Cutland (Nottinghamshire’s Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner); Dr Linda Moore (University of Ulster); Governing Governor Clare Orton and Deputy Governor Shaun Mycroft (HMP Foston Hall) will be discussing their work.
The BSC Midlands Regional Network aims to host seminars in turn at different universities in the area. The next event will be held at Derby on 26 November 2014. If you wish to host future seminars, please contact either Azrini Wahidin or Phil Hodgson. All events are free.
